  • Brazil "Cerrado" Natural

    Country: Brazil
    Region: Cerrado
    Estate: Oberon
    Price: $12.00 lb

  • Cerrado is in the highlands of the western Minas Gerais region. This estate’s coffee is grown at an elevation between 3000-4000 ft. Brazil produces 40% of the world’s coffee and only in the past few years has it entered the high-end specialty market. Brazil has many coffee varietals, from Caturra, Catuai, Catimor to Bourbon and Yellow Bourbon. This gives their coffees a wide range of flavor profiles. Their processing is very interesting. They do a natural coffee, dried in-the-fruit; a semi-washed with some of the mucilage left on the bean, and a fully washed coffee. This coffee has good body and aroma, a natural sweetness finishing with soft nutty tones.

  • Colombia "Nariño"

    Country: Colombia
    Region: Nariño
    Estate: Reserva Del Patron
    Price: $16.00 lb

  • This Colombian coffee comes from the southern most growing regions in the Colombian Andes which results in the harvest arriving later than in the rest of the country. This coffee is very well balanced with more body than other Colombians and is slightly sweet with hints of caramel in the mouth.

  • Costa Rica "Don Teofilo"

    Country: Costa Rica
    Region: Los Santos Tarrazu
    Estate: Don Teofilo
    Price: $16.00 lb

  • This coffee is grown at 4600-5500 ft. in the Los Santos Tarrazu region, near the village of El Tablazo, Acosta. Finca Don Teofilo is owned by Marko Elizondo Garbanzo and is a 4th generation plantation. The varietals of coffee grown here are Caturra, Catuai, Typica and Geisha. We have worked closely with Marco this past year and Java Pura has purchased the entire 2008-2009 crop, making this our first, but not last direct trade coffee. Roasted to optimum flavor with a medium roast, Don Teofilo has an excellent balance of body and acidity, is very aromatic, with tastes of citrus and milk chocolate truffle.

  • Costa Rica "La Minita"

    Country: Costa Rica
    Region: Tarrazu
    Estate: La Minita
    Price: $16.00 lb

  • La Minita is a beautiful coffee estate, situated in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica. These coffees, grown at 4500-6000 ft., are meticulously prepared and hand sorted for optimum quality. We roast this elegant and balanced coffee in the light to medium range to best highlight its nutty, chocolate nose. Delicate, with a clean finish, La Minita has an excellent acidity and body.

  • Costa Rica "La Candelilla Geisha"

    Country: Costa Rica
    Region: Tarrazu
    Estate: La Candelilla Geisha
    Price: $39.00 lb

  • This one time, limited coffee is extremely sought-after. Only 15 bags were produced this season from this estate. Geisha is a varietal of coffee that was taken from Ethiopia, the birth place of coffee, in the 1930’s. Originally it was called Gesha. Over the years the name was changed to Geisha, probably because of the Japanese who aggressively seek this coffee. The profile for this coffee is intensely floral with notes of jasmine. Taste characteristics are complex with honey and passion fruit, combined with hints of mango.

  • Guatemala "Huehuetenango"

    Country: Guatemala
    Region: Huehuetenango
    Estate: Arranya Estate
    Price: $12.00 lb

  • Huehuetenango is a growing region in the northern highlands of Guatemala near the border with Mexico. Less known than its neighbor to the south, Antigua, Huehuetenango produces, to our palates, a wonderfully smooth, clean, and aromatic cup. Grown at an elevation of 5000-6000 ft., this Arranya Estate coffee offers up hints of delicate berry fruit notes, with a lingering finish of sweet chocolate.

  • Mexico “Chiapas”

    Country: Mexico
    Region: Chiapas
    Estate: Cooperative
    Price: $12.00 lb

  • This coffee is grown in the southeast mountain region of Mexico near the Guatemala border. A smooth and mild coffee with subtle and delicate fruit and spice overtones. We roast this coffee medium to bring out more body.

    Estate: Cooperative
    Price: $14.00 lb

  • This is a certified organic, fair trade coffee from the state of Nararit near the extinct volcano Cerro San Juan. It comes from the small co-op Ejido Malinal. It has intense aromas with citrus notes of orange peel followed by a smooth finish. We roast this coffee light to medium to emphasize the fruitiness.

  • Nicaragua “Dipilto”

    Country: Nicaragua
    Region: Dipilto Fair Trade, Organic
    Estate: Fair Trade Organic
    Price: $15.00 lb

  • Dipilto is a valley in the northern part of Nicaragua at the Honduras border. It has a small group of farmers who process their own coffee to the parchment stage. Ken Palmer, our Master Roaster consulted with this cooperative for 3 weeks in 2004-2005. He was very impressed with their interest in ecology, worm culture and quality. They have their own cupping lab as well. A finely run cooperative. This coffee’s nose is intensely floral, giving way to a full-bodied presence in the mouth followed by the smoothest of finishes. One of Java Pura’s in-house favorites.

  • Ethiopia “Lekempti”

    Country: Ethiopia
    Region: Lekempti Organic
    Estate: Cooperative
    Price: $15.00 lb

  • Lekempti is in the western region of Ethiopia and close to the Kafa Sheka area where coffee originated. This is also a naturally processed coffee. It is smooth with mild, slightly earthy tones. It is grown at the 5000-6000 ft altitude. Much of the coffee in the western region of Ethiopia grows wild and is not cultivated or farmed.

  • Ethiopia “Misty Valley”

    Country: Ethiopia
    Region: Yirgacheffe
    Estate: Idido Misty Valley Organic
    Price: $17.00 lb

  • Yirgacheffe is in the southern part of Ethiopia and is one of the most sought after coffees from Ethiopia. Traditionally it is a fully washed coffee but in the last few years they have experimented with dried, in-the-cherry coffee or “natural process”. Misty Valley is this type of coffee and is one of the most exceptional coffees we have tasted. Yirgacheffe coffee is grown at the 6000- 8000 ft level, making it one of the highest grown coffees in the world. The flavor is what is referred to as wild. Fruity with a definite blueberry aroma in the cup and a finish of chocolate tinged berries. This coffee is not always available because it is hard to develop this flavor profile season to season.

  • Rwanda “Rushashi”

    Country: Rwanda
    Region: Kivu
    Estate: Rushashi Fair Trade Organic
    Price: $15.00 lb

  • After the genocide in Rwanda it took years for the coffee industry to come back. Most of the coffee is farmed by women due to the loss of man power due to the rebellion. Most of the coffee is grown in west Rwanda by the shores of Lake Kivu. Rwanda has produced some surprisingly excellent coffees in the recent years. Rushashi has a slight sweetness, with hazelnut and lemon citrus notes, followed by a rich body.

  • Sumatra “Aceh Gold”

    Region: Aceh
    Estate: Aceh Gold
    Price: $15.00 lb

  • Grown at an elevation of 4000-5250 ft. in northern Sumatra, overlooking Lake Toba, this coffee is semi-washed, then washed (de-pulped), giving it it’s unique flavor. This is a very aromatic, full bodied coffee, with subtle spice notes up front and molasses, dark chocolate and fruit rounding out the finish.

  • Sumatra “Iskandar”

    Country: Sumatra
    Region: Medan
    Estate: Iskandar
    Price: $17.00 lb

  • Iskandar is what we call triple hand picked for almost zero defects. It comes from the Medan region in the north of Sumatra near Lake Tewar. This is one of the few coffees from Sumatra that is washed, giving it a syrupy heavy body, as well as good acidity. We give it a medium roast for a light butterscotch finish.

  • World Espresso

    Country: Sumatra
    Region: Medan
    Estate: Iskandar
    Price: $16.00 lb

  • You will find this espresso blend full bodied with a heavy crema that lasts and lasts. The flavor is exceptional and holds up with full coffee flavor in lattes, cappuccinos or other milk based drinks. This coffee has a wonderful mouth feel, is slightly fruity, with a full body down to the last drop.

  • Mexico “Nayarita Decaf”

    Country: Mexico
    Region: Nayarita
    Estate: Terruño Nayarita
    Price: $16.00 lb

  • This decaf is the same coffee we offer in the non-decafinated form. The mountain water process leaves all the good flavors of this excellent coffee intact. Most people have a hard time tasting the difference. Excellent fruity flavors are retained.

  • Guatemala “Swiss Water Decaf”
